The dreamed destination
for all
visitors.
It has been said for many years, nature lovers and visitors who
would prefer to learn Thai culture and have a memorable holiday in Thailand will not hesitate
to visit the north. The unique architecture
and arts, hospitable people, dazzling handicrafts and cool
mountainous landscapes are the highlights of northern Thailand.
Northern Thailand is comprised of 8 provinces
bordered by Laos to the north and Burma to the west. Chiang
Mai ,Thailand’s second largest city, is the
geographic center of the region. It serves as the hub for
local transportation and tourism.
Beyond the valley of Chiang
Mai are four main routes which can be easily
traveled. North of Chiang Mai is series of small towns Mae Rim, Mae Tang lead to Thaton on the banks of the Kok River, connecting
to Chiang Rai, Mae Sai,
the Golden Triangle and the Mighty Mekong River. To the south-west are the
verdant forest of Doi Inthanon National Park,
remote districts and the province of Maecham, Mae Sa Riang and Mae Hong
Son respectively. South of Chiang Mai lies the
historic centers of Lampoon, Lampang,Tak and Sukhothai. To the east is the handicraft making center in Bo
Sang-Sankampang and the rarely visited provinces
of Pa Yao, Prae and Nan. |
